About Us

Edi Cox
Edi Cox serves as the Director for Low Country Virtual. She began her career as a high school teacher who was recognized for her innovative work. In her most recent role she served as the Executive Director of Online Learning and Instructional Technology in one of the largest school districts in South Carolina. She is credited with launching one of the first district-led virtual programs in the Palmetto State. In 2013 Ms. Cox was instrumental in the writing and submission of a Gates Foundation Grant designed to help a district launch personalized learning efforts with a rollout of 1:1 devices to more than 43,000 students. Edi has a B.S. in Business Administration from Winthrop University and an M.ED. from the University of South Carolina. She has completed additional graduate-level coursework through Western Governors' University and continues to stay current in the field by serving in a variety of roles with national organizations such as the Digital Learning Collaborative, Virtual Leadership Alliance (VLLA) and Quality Matters. She provided guidance in the revisions to the National Standards for Quality (NSQ). FUN FACT- Edi is an ardent Clemson Tiger Fan having had three children attend and graduate from Clemson University.
Diane Sigmon
Diane Sigmon serves as the Systems Analyst for Low Country Virtual. Diane is well known throughout the Palmetto State due to her knowledge and expertise with informational and educational technology. Her career spans forty years, and she considers being an educator her true calling. Diane got her start as a Math/Computer Science teacher at Lexington High School. After seven years in the classroom she joined the District Staff in Darlington County School District and served in a variety of technology roles for over 33 years, ultimately leading the department as the Executive Director for Informational Technology. She is married to Dean, an electrical engineer and they have four children (including triplets) and two grandchildren. FUN FACT: Diane sang the National Anthem at the Southern 500 NASCAR race in 1997 - a thrilling experience to say the least!

We are thrilled to be able to work with the eight partnership districts to offer Low Country Virtual to students in the Palmetto State. Our Admin team is knowledgeable and experienced in online/virtual learning, and we are working with districts to align Low Country Virtual with the National Standards for Quality (NSQ).

MeagHan Barber
Meaghan Barber serves as the Instructional Specialist for Low Country Virtual. Meaghan has a passion for online learning with a focus on student engagement, curriculum + course design, multi-media design, and instructional filmmaking in education. She earned her M.Ed in Instructional Technology from Coastal Carolina University and continues to teach for their online graduate program. Meaghan has several years vested in education teaching history + online psychology 6th - 12th grade, serving as a Digital Integration Specialist followed by serving as the Coordinator for Online Learning and Instructional Technology for her previous district. Meaghan loves any chance to be creative in the virtual classroom and loves to inspire others to take risks. FUN FACT: When not working she loves surfing, gardening, and playing outside with her family!
Cindy Ambrose
Cindy Ambrose serves as the Executive Director for Low Country Education Consortium, the sponsor for Low Country Virtual. Cindy has worked with virtual/online learning in districts in Virginia and South Carolina. where she served as chief academic officer and deputy superintendent. Having been trained as a National Baldrige Examiner Cindy has led work to implement continuous improvement processes in the districts in which she has worked. She holds a bachelor's and two masters' degrees from the University of South Carolina, an Education Specialist Degree from Coastal Carolina University, and a certificate of advanced graduate studies from Stanford University. Cindy is committed to leveraging technology to improve student outcomes and is actively engaged in the Digital Learning Collaborative and Quality Matters activities. FUN FACT: Cindy attended pizza school in Little Italy, NY. She loves to make pizza for friends and family.
